The Heart of Worship
Micah 6:6-8
6 Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Thoughts:
Often, we try to appease God with external actions, thinking grand gestures will win His favor. The Israelites considered extravagant sacrifices, even contemplating offering their firstborn. But God's desire is much simpler and profound: "To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8). God desires our heart and lives, not the things we possess.
Prayer:
Consider your own approach to worship and serving God. Are you caught up in religious activities without heart engagement? Ask God to help you focus on aligning your heart with His desires. Seek opportunities to act justly in your interactions, show kindness to others, and humble yourself before God. Remember, true worship is a lifestyle, not just a Sunday moment in a worship service.
