Jesus Sees as the Father Sees

John 5:17
But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

Thought:
Jesus healed a man who had been crippled for thirty-eight years. The religious leaders did not rejoice about this man's healing. They only saw a rule they thought Jesus had broken. They were angry because it happened on the Sabbath. But Jesus saw something very different. He saw the Father at work.

When Jesus said, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work,” He was teaching that even though God rested from creating the world, He never stopped working in the world. God never stops holding all things together. He never stops caring, guiding, and showing mercy.

Colossians 1:17 says that in Christ “all things consist,” meaning He holds everything together. The same Lord who keeps the stars in place also stopped at the pool of Bethesda for one broken man. The power that sustains the universe is the same loving power that bends down to the hurting.

This matters for you. You may feel unseen or forgotten. You may feel like you have waited a long time by your own “pool,” hoping for change. But Jesus sees as the Father sees. He sees every tear, every lonely night, every quiet prayer. He is not blind to your pain. He is not too busy running the universe to care about you.

In Christ, the great God of creation is also the gentle God of comfort. His eyes are on the galaxies, and His eyes are on you.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You see me as the Father sees me. Thank You that while You hold all things together, You also care about my pain and my struggles. Help me to believe that I am not forgotten and that You are still working, even when I do not see it. Give me faith to trust Your eyes and Your heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
