Manifested Love

John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Thought:
Christ’s saving love does not change. If you belong to Him, He loves you with a steadfast love that took Him to the cross and secures your salvation. That love is rooted in His finished work, not in your up-and-down emotions or your daily performance. Because of who He is and what He has done, His people are secure and held fast.

Jesus teaches that there can be a difference between being truly loved by Christ and living with a clear, daily fulfillment of that love. His love is constant, but our experience of fellowship can vary. When we sin, neglect the Word, or resist the Spirit’s leading, fellowship becomes hindered. We don’t lose Christ, but we can sometimes forget how close He is and how sweet it is to be in communion with Him.

As you walk in repentance, surrender, and obedience, Jesus becomes more real to you. His presence grows clearer through the Word, His comfort becomes sweeter in the trials of life, and His guidance becomes more understandable as your heart becomes more tuned in to Him. He is faithful to keep His promise, “I will manifest myself to him.” This is not a promise of performance, but of communion. A deeper understanding of Jesus grows through our obedience.

Where have you allowed clouds to gather in your soul? Is it a hidden sin that you keep excusing? Is it a coldness that has settled in? Is it neglect of prayer and Scripture? Bring those things into the light of His truth. Confess them openly and honestly. Ask the Spirit to renew your heart. Then walk today in obedience.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that Your saving love for me is constant. I confess any sin, hardness, or neglect that has clouded my sense of Your presence. I do not want to live at a distance from the joy of You. As I surrender and obey, please manifest Yourself to me. Make Your presence more real, Your Word more alive, and Your love more deeply felt. I pray this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
