Chosen and Adopted
Ephesians 1:4-5
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Romans 8:15-17
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Thoughts:
Today, we focus on our identity as chosen and adopted children of God. Before the foundation of the world, God set His love upon us and predetermined our adoption into His family. This is not based on our merit or goodness but on His sovereign grace and good pleasure. Think on what it means to be chosen by God. How does this truth impact your self-worth and sense of purpose? Consider the privileges and responsibilities that come with being adopted into God's family. How might you live differently today, knowing you are a beloved child of the King? As you think about this blessing, let it strengthen you to approach God with confidence and to represent Him well in the world.
Prayer:
Take the time now and thank Him for the position He has set you in. He is Father, Jesus is Savior and Groom, and the Holy Spirit is the Comforter. What a position we are in!
