From Grace to Grace
Galatians 5:1-6
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Thoughts:
Today, we explore the delicate balance between God's sovereignty and human responsibility in salvation. We are saved by grace through faith - both gifts from God. Yet, we are told to "stand fast" in this liberty. Reflect on areas where you might be tempted to fall back into legalism or self-reliance rather than resting in God's grace. How can you cultivate a deeper appreciation for God's grace without taking it for granted? Consider how this grace empowers you to live a life of love and good works, not out of obligation, but out of gratitude. Today, let grace be both your foundation and your motivation. Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Stop and sit for a moment in the grace of God. Most people read these devotions on the run to work or to begin their day. Stop for a moment and take in the grace of God that has saved you and that sustains you. Then tell Him. Tell Him what His grace means to you.
